Rangjung Yeshe Institute Foundation, Inc. (RYIF), supports the Buddhist religious and educational activities, in particular those of the globally recognized Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI) in Nepal through joint educational programs. International students who are not from Nepal or any of the SAARC countries will find fees listed here. International students can apply on this page or through RYI’s website to their preferred program by hitting the “Apply Now” button.  Below you will find some information on the various study programs available at Rangjung Yeshe Institute.

Undergraduate Studies

Undergraduate studies are for those who have completed higher secondary school (10+2) but have not earned a bachelor’s degree, or for those who have completed a bachelor’s degree program in a different discipline and now want to join a program of Buddhist Studies.

Undergraduate students may enroll in the full four-year BA program or alternatively, study as visiting students or non-degree students.

Graduate studies are for those students who have already obtained a bachelor’s degree and wish to study in our MA program, or for those who have obtained an MA degree and wish to study in our PhD program or undertake independent research.

Visiting students from MA programs at other institutions may consider spending a semester studying in the MA program at CBS.

Summer Program

Translator Training

Summer Program

The Summer Program is 8 weeks of full immersion  in any the following language; Colloquial Tibetan, Classical Tibetan, Sanskrit, Nepali, and Pāli language. The Buddhist Studies program provides a living exposure to Buddhist philosophy and a practical introduction to the richness of personal meditation training. All the courses are now online during the pandemic.

Translator Training Program

Rangjung Yeshe Institute offers an intensive 12-month Translator Training Program to train students to orally interpret from Tibetan into English. The Translator Training Program starts in mid-June each year and runs for twelve months, the next program starts June 2021.

The program is designed so that students can become oral interpreters in 12 months, capable of serving as an interpreter for a Tibetan teacher giving basic Buddhist teachings. The program is offered at an Intermediate Level, which assumes a year of prior training in both the modern spoken and classical Tibetan languages.
