Rangjung Yeshe Institute Foundation (RYIF) was established by Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche in 2019 with the mission to conduct and support Buddhist religious and educational activities worldwide, including those of Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI) through joint education programs. RYI is an institution of higher learning, based at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery in Nepal, for those wishing to deepen their understanding of Buddhist philosophy and practice. RYI has been conducting seminars and study programs in Nepal for more than 25 years.

RYI is the home of the Kathmandu University – Centre for Buddhist Studies (CBS), an educational and research center.

RYIF’s Current Primary Objectives:

1) Raising and providing funding for specific projects, including joint education programs, research work and support services which help RYI and its affiliates to grow and develop to achieve its educational mission; and

2) Establishing an endowment fund of sufficient size to allow all recurrent costs of RYI to be met each year.

During its first year since its founding, RYIF has provided over USD 200,000 in funding for research and support services to help RYI.

A Board of Directors oversees the management of the Foundation. The current Board members are: Jack deTar (President), Ellen Scordato (Treasurer), Andreas Doctor (Secretary), and Philippe Turenne.
